‘I didn’t give them a chance’: Chris Sutton has just made U-turn on where Tottenham could finish this season

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a solid season, making huge progress from the disappointing 2022-23 campaign.

Spurs did not qualify for Europe last season, finishing a pitiful ninth. Still, they’ve been playing at a good level this season and will be confident of qualifying for the Champions League.

It’s true that Tottenham’s most recent match ended in a loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. In addition, Spurs had to wait two weeks to play again in the Premier League.

Tottenham will now be primed for action when they play Crystal Palace at N17 on Saturday at 3 p.m.

In a piece for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton gave a preview and prediction for Spurs’ next match. He also reversed course on their aspirations of finishing in the top four.

“Tottenham is still vying for a Champions League berth, and if they succeed, it would be an incredible season,” he wrote. “Especially when you think about the way they finished the previous campaign.

“I didn’t give them a chance of making the top four at the start because I thought it would take a while for Ange Postecoglou to implement his ideas, but that has happened quicker than I expected.”
