‘Really struggled’… Paul Merson now predicts the result of Tottenham vs Crystal Palace clash

Paul Merson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to get back to winning ways against Crystal Palace this weekend.

After a 2-1 loss to Wolves the previous time out, Ange Postecoglou has had a few weeks to get his team ready for the match on Saturday in north London.

At home against Gary O’Neil’s team, Tottenham was lackluster and rightfully took nothing away from the match.

Even though they still have a game in hand, their matchup with Palace may be a must-win because they’ve fallen five points behind Aston Villa in fourth place.

Although Oliver Glasner, the new guy in the Eagles’ dugout, will give them hope, Paul Merson predicts Spurs will win easily, 3-1.

Merson predicts Tottenham vs Palace

Writing in his latest column for Sportskeeda, Merson claimed that Palace will struggle without key players such as Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise.

“This is a nice game for Tottenham as Palace have a new manager in Oliver Glasner and are set to be without Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, without whom they’ve really struggled this season,” the Arsenal legend said.

“Spurs play a certain game and this would have been a dangerous game if both Eze and Olise were fit, but without the pair, Palace don’t have enough firepower to secure a positive result.

“Ange Postecoglou’s side have to win this game as Aston Villa have ramped it up a little bit in recent weeks, so I think they’ll get a comfortable win in front of their home fans.”

Spurs’ attacking threat was severely limited in the game due to the absence of both Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie in the loss to Wolves.

Although Udogie has been observed back at Hotspur Way for training, it is unclear if Porro will make a comeback.

You would anticipate Tottenham to win on Saturday, Porro or not.

Gaining victories over teams in the bottom part of the standings at home is essential if they want to place among the top four.

Spurs’ recent decline in performance has raised some concerns, but they should benefit from the two-week break as Postecoglou will have plenty of time to work with his players on the training field.
