“We’re all human”, “words hurt” – Tottenham player shares heartbreaking message on Instagram

Ryan Sessegnon has posted a heartbreaking message on his Instagram after the young defender suffered yet another injury setback.

The 23-year-old returned against Burnley in January after missing play since the summer due to a hamstring ailment that required surgery.

Unfortunately, he took a knock that prevented him from playing for several more weeks even though he had only played ten minutes.

After recovering from the knock, he started the U21 match last week, but just 37 minutes into the match, he was forced off due to another hamstring injury.

The player had a successful operation, the club announced yesterday, and according to injury specialist Dr. Rajpal Brar, he will miss the next three months of action.

The player posted a message on social media, expressing his sadness over the latest setback.

In the heartbreaking message he also hinted towards receiving some negative messages on social media as he asked the fans to be careful what they say online as ‘words hurt’.

He shared the following message:

“Gutted beyond belief. Just when I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, and thought I was back doing what I love, I’ve hit another setback.

I’ve been down this road before. I’ll pick myself up, stay head strong & begin my recovery in the best way possible. Having been through an operation & the recovery on my other hamstring last year, and knowing how strong that hamstring is now, I know this is the best solution to put an end to the reoccurring issues.

Thank you to those who have sent messages of support – I can’t express how it feels. We’re all human at the end of the day, and I’m devastated more than anyone to have a setback. I’ll do everything I can to be back out on that pitch.

I can speak for everyone who has experienced this: please use caution while posting anything online. No one chooses to be in this situation, and words hurt.

The young athlete, who was once hailed as Spurs’ next great thing, has had such a miserable career thus far because of the injuries he has sustained.

Although he has a busy summer ahead of him, things definitely appear dire for him at the moment.

He might have a chance to restart his career with the team if he can get back to full fitness and makes an impression on Ange during the preseason.

If not, it’s possible that the team will opt to let him go and find Destiny Udogie a suitable replacement.
