After the full-back made an impression while on loan at Sevilla, where he played brilliantly in La Liga and helped the team win the Europa League, Jose Mourinho invested £32 million for him.

Reguilon replaced Ben Davies as the team’s starting left-back after 26 games played in his rookie campaign at Spurs.

Over those games, the Spanish ace picked up four assists and became known as an energetic, pacy defender who provided endless support at both ends of the field.

Reguilon kept his place in the starting XI in the following season, but this time he would operate in a left-wing back role under Antonio Conte, which suited his profile much better. The former Real Madrid prospect started 22 games, but that was the pinnacle of his Spurs career.

Reguilon joined Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan last season with the intention of returning to Spain.

But the defender’s tenure under Diego Simeone was a nightmare; he started just two La Liga games, had two injuries, and spent fourteen games on the bench without seeing action.

In the latter half of this season, he was on loan at Manchester United, where he made twelve appearances. The 27-year-old is currently playing on loan for Brentford from Spurs once more. He is replacing the injured Rico Henry as the team’s first-choice left wing back.

As you can see, this would place him as the team’s joint least valuable player and the least likely to have featured regularly in the Premier League this year among the Spurs players. In summary, he is considered to be on par with some of the club’s recent academy grads.

Reguilon’s transfer from Spurs has been a complete blunder, and with Destiny Udogie emerging as a major asset at left-back, it seems unlikely that the Spaniard will be able to turn around his career under Postecoglou.
