‘It would be disastrous’ – Pundit fears serious setback at Tottenham
It is inevitable that Tottenham would face interest in Ange Postecoglou from top European clubs if they don’t qualify for the Champions League, says Paul Robinson.
Although the Australian’s form has become much more inconsistent since his incredible run to start his Spurs career, the pundit is still hopeful that the team can lead the Australian into the premier European competition this year. The team lost 2-1 at home to Wolves this past weekend, leaving them in fifth place, which may or may not be good enough to get in this year.
Robinson says there won’t be “any decision for him to make” if the team places in the top four, but if not, there is a real fear that a “disastrous” exit may be imminent if Champions League teams approach him in the summer to fill managerial vacancies.
“I would like to think that from a Tottenham point of view that they will be in the Champions League next season and there’s no decision for him to make,” he stated in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News.
It would be catastrophic if he were to depart because of his bond with Tottenham supporters and the way he has united the team.
“But, if your team isn’t among the best in Europe, you should be worried because, as soon as you hire a successful manager, adoring looks from across the continent will follow. There will always be an issue with that.
Postecoglou himself has managed in the Champions League previously with Celtic and likely wouldn’t see it as a prerequisite to staying after just one Premier League season.
However, it is well known that teams like Barcelona and Liverpool, who both announced their respective resignations in the summer, will be searching for a new manager.

Therefore, even if it is highly improbable that the Spurs manager will stay in North London permanently, it is not completely out of the question that a sizable offer to both the club and him would be made.
In other Tottenham news, the team has revealed some “huge” information following a significant transfer development.
