‘No reason for it’: Alasdair Gold says Ange Postecoglou has a issue to fix at Tottenham in next two weeks
Journalist Alasdair Gold has now been discussing a big issue Ange Postecoglou is facing with his Tottenham Hotspur players.
Given Spurs now don’t have a game until March 2nd, when they face Crystal Palace at home, Postecoglou does now have a period in which he can address a few things.
February has been a mixed month for Tottenham, and it ultimately did feel as if the Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat had been coming.
Maybe Postecoglou’s team was lucky to win both their home matches against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion, two matches they still had the will to win.
But according to Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham manager might have been let down by one or two instances.
During his interview on the “Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast,” the journalist expressed her belief that Postecoglou should supervise a genuine shift in mindset during these two weeks off.
Gold expressed extreme frustration with the Spurs players’ pressuring of Wolves in particular and said that Ange should just bench everybody who wasn’t giving it their all.

Speaking on the podcast, Gold thought an attitude change was needed, something a lot more important than tactical nuisances.
He said: “I think that’s going to be Ange’s biggest thing to fix in these two weeks, more so than even the technical stuff.
“It’s the attitude change, because he shouldn’t accept that in any way shape or form, there’s no reason for it, there shouldn’t be any tiredness – they’re playing a game a week
“They’ve got stronger squad numbers now which means, quite frankly, whoever you are, if you’re not doing what you’re meant to be doing and giving 100% in terms of your pressing, your aggression and dynamism and movement on the field: Please leave the squad, I apologize.
“And preventing that complacency from setting in is the main goal of the team’s competition.”
Although some Tottenham supporters might concur with Gold’s remarks, it doesn’t appear like Postecoglou’s message is still relevant after 90 minutes.
Not that things won’t get better; rather, it’s possible that this is the first major setback of this new age, and since the outcomes haven’t been that bad, it could be worse.
Positively, though, Tottenham supporters will be happy to learn how well Lucas Bergvall performed this week in Sweden.
