‘Tottenham need to forget about trophies – they’re not easy to win in England’
EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie O’Hara is a big fan of Ange Postecoglou but thinks the club need to forget about trophies for the time being despite their last honour coming in 2008
Jamie O’Hara had a controversial take on Tottenham Hotspur’s 16-year lengthy trophy drought.
The ex-Spurs star made 56 appearances for the club and scored seven goals from 2007 to 2010 before joining Wolves in 2011 for £3.5million.
The 37-year-old, who left Billericay Town in 2020 after serving as both a player and manager, has remained a devoted supporter of Tottenham and frequently expresses his enthusiasm for the Premier League team while serving as a pundit for talkSPORT.
O’Hara, like a lot of Spurs supporters, has been pleased with the new team manager Ange Postecoglou assembled. The team is currently fourth in the Premier League standings. O’Hara has had a nice season thus far in North London.
In an exclusive conversation with Daily Star Sport via Grosnevor Sport, the former midfield player discussed his impressions of the team thus far and the extent to which the supporters’ spirits have improved after last year’s disastrous campaign..
“This season has been a breath of fresh air,” O’Hara said. “You know, It feels like the feel-good factor is back at the football club, I think Ange has done a brilliant job in terms of just changing the mentality of how we want to play playing a little bit more thrilling, like football.”
Postecoglou has already won over the Spurs supporters in his first season on the team, and O’Hara is sure that he is the team’s future due to his sincerity and modern style of play. “I’d like to see Ange at this football club for 4 or 5 seasons,” he said. “Always follow him. You know, he seems like a really kind man. Furthermore, you understand that it’s okay if we skip a few seasons or come close to a final.”
Tottenham has undoubtedly improved from the previous season, but after losing both of their domestic cups before February—making it 16 years since they won one—the team appears set for another trophy-less campaign.
