James Maddison’s £170,000 a week salary could buy you a lot of things, but it didn’t buy his girlfriend a cheap rose as they dined out on Tuesday evening.
The Tottenham Hotspur and England ace treated partner Kennedy Alexa to an early Valentine’s Day dinner in Mayfair, but opted out of buying her a plastic wrapped rose from a local trader after being approached on the street.
He did however make up for it by whisking her off for a lavish meal at the Russian owned Novikov, one of Mayfair’s more exclusive bar-restaurants, where the cheapest white wine costs £60 a glass and vodka served from a Fabergé Imperial Collection Decanter and Jeweled Egg an eye-watering £5,500.
While the Novikov website demands a ‘smart and elegant’ dress code, Maddison, 27, turned up in a woolen beanie hat, baggy chinos and trainers for his pre-Valentine’s dinner.
Fortunately, Alexa, 29, – who raises three children with the footballer – got the memo, with the American model turning heads in a stylish black minidress and heels.
The pair were accosted by a street trader outside the upmarket establishment as they left later that night, but Maddison opted out of buying his partner a rose.
Alexa gave birth to twins Delilah and Rome last July, with the model later sharing a photo of their newborn babies alongside the caption: ‘Meet Delilah & Rome Maddison 2/7/23 – our family is complete.’
The couple, who have been together for four years, are also parents to son Leo, who was born in July 2021.
They were inundated with well wishes from their friends including Harry Kane’s wife Kate who wrote: ‘Congratulations’.
Danielle Fogarty, who is the daughter of Carl Fogarty, commented: ‘So perfect Congratulations’.
Elsewhere Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw’s girlfriend Anouska Santos said the tots were ‘perfect’.
Maddison and Alexa went public with their romance in an Instagram post on Christmas Eve 2020.
The pair have been fairly private with their relationship and it’s not known how they met or when they began dating.
