The Sharks have confirmed that one of their most influential Springbok stars underwent corrective surgery and will be sidelined for weeks.
The Springbok in question is Eben Etzebeth, with the enforcer said to have suffered a horrid knee injury which required surgery.
Etzebeth is also anticipated to be out for a few weeks at the very least, according to a downcast and John Plumree, adding to the alarmingly long list of injured Springbok players.
“Eben Etzebeth has resumed playing, although he will only be back in a few weeks due to a knee operation.
“I feel like I’ve been handicapped by my numerous injuries throughout this long season,”
Etzebeth, who participated for the sharks in their Champions Cup match on January 13 against the French team Oyonnax, was probably going to miss this week’s URC coastal derby against the Stormers, but coach Plumtree was more irritated by the fact that he would miss multiple more important games.
