Manager admits he is ‘disappointed’ that 27-year-old went to Tottenham
Former Italy goalkeeper Marco Amelia, who has coached at the highest level since hanging up his boots, admitted that he wanted to see Guglielmo Vicario remain in the Serie A.
Vicario has quickly become a fan favourite among Tottenham supporters since arriving at the club.
The 27-year-old has filled some of the leadership hole left by Hugo Lloris’ departure because he also seems to be a natural leader and is frequently very loud on the field.

Amelia has now admitted that he would have loved to see how Vicario developed had to gone to one of the top Italian sides last summer.
The former Livorno goalkeeper, who made over 250 Serie A appearances, told Radio Cusano Campus (as relayed by Sport Witness): “I am disappointed to think that, especially this year, Vicario had to go to the Premier League. It could have been someone at the top (in Italy) who took him.
But Vicario’s trip was even more significant than his time spent playing in Serie A with a premier team. He attended Tottenham, where he is currently thriving.
Vicario’s transfer to Spurs has caused quite a stir among Italian analysts and former players over the past six months. It also demonstrates how well-regarded the 27-year-old is in his own nation.
