Alistair Johnston sends Celtic message from hospital bed after nasty head knock in Hibs win
The defender took a scary injury after a collision with Nectarios Triantis
Alistair Johnston celebrated Celtic’s late win over Hibs from a hospital bed after a nasty collision forced him off.
The defender, 25, took a sore one in a head knock with Hibs’ loan boy Nectar Triantis and was taken off on a stretcher and sent straight to the hospital for a check-up with concussion protocol in full swing. The challenge from Triantis resulted in a Celtic penalty which was scored by Adam Idah before Dylan Levitt equalised in the second-half.
After Kyogo was knocked down, Idah scored another spot-kick to give the Celts a razor-thin 2-1 victory. Following the incident, Johnson posted a picture to Instagram to reassure supporters that he was well.
“Get in,” was all that the Canadian full-back wrote, gesturing with his thumb up. Magnificent +3 Celtic.
For the Hoops, who are now leading the league and have rival Rangers breathing down their neck, it was a significant victory. The Light Blues now have the momentum and have a game left to equalize the score; nonetheless, Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic players celebrated the outcome at Easter Road, clearly understanding its significance.
