‘He just said…’: January signing reveals what Spurs star said to entice him before move

Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall during the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old was a target for Spanish Barcelona as well. However, Tottenham managed to win the race for his signature eventually. The midfielder opted to join the Premier League club instead of a move to Spain.

Rumor has it that Dejan Kulusevski, a winger for Tottenham, was instrumental in persuading the midfield player to sign with the team. Bergvall now says that prior to heading to Tottenham, he spoke with his countryman.

The 18-year-old clarified, though, that Kulusevski was not attempting to get him to sign with Tottenham. Rather, the Swedish winger gave the child a quick rundown of the team.

Bergvall told Aftonbladet, “We spoke a little earlier” (via Sport Witness). “The general operations of the club, including how members work, train, and spend their days. That wasn’t a very convincing speech.

“He mentioned that the club was excellent, and I observed that as soon as I arrived.” I had a fantastic response. It’s a highly family-oriented club with amazing members.

With the correct coaching, Bergvall, who is highly regarded throughout Europe, has the potential to become a premier player for Tottenham. The 18-year-old will provide skill, technical ability, and control in the middle of the park. He primarily plays as a creative midfielder.

Spurs have made the decision to allow him to finish the season at Djurgarden playing regular football as he continues to grow. In the summer, he will reunite with his new comrades.

It will be interesting to see if Bergvall can make an immediate impact in the Premier League next season. He is likely to have a first team role at Tottenham and he will look to establish himself as a player for the club.
