‘He doesn’t get any publicity’ – Cristian Romero says one Tottenham star is very underrated
Cristian Romero has said that Tottenham Hotspur cannot just instantly compete for major trophies even though they have a talented squad and a top manager, insisting that it will take time for the side to get to the level they want to. He also added that Micky Van de Ven is an underrated cog in the machine under Ange Postecoglou.
It is fair to say that there has been a lot of frustration among Spurs fans due to the FA Cup loss to Manchester City two weeks ago and the manner in which the Lilywhites dropped points at Goodison Park on Saturday.
These results have served as a reality check and have shown that the club still have a lot of work to do to get to the level where they can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
Romero acknowledged that some patience is necessary, insisting that the club are on the right track to eventually challenge for major honours.
The World Cup winner told The Sun: “We need time and patience to win stuff, or at least to compete with teams like Manchester City and Liverpool who are out on their own in the Premier League.
“They are the teams to beat but more of the same from our club and chairman, who are laying the foundations, and we’ll push them hard one day. Even if we’re not yet ready to win this season, we’re on the right track and just need to keep it going.”
