Last season’s K-League 1 Young Player of the Year will NOT be heading to Parkhead this month
Celtic midfield target Jeong Ho-yeon has played down any rumours that he is locked in talks with the Scottish champions as the January transfer deadline looms.
The 23-year-old – last season’s K-League 1 Young Player of the Year – was previously linked with the Hoops last summer after his rapid rise with Gwangju. He declared that he was aware of Celtic’s interest through his agent after outlining his ambition of sealing a move to a European club.

Scotland is far too soon in his career, but it’s obvious the athlete is keen to see how he performs in a new setting.
“I don’t know of any plans to relocate to Celtic,” the Gwangju celebrity said to Jeonnam Ilbo. “However, I’m still working toward my goal of pushing myself overseas. It will be an opportunity for me to grow as a player, and I want to see where I stand and how I am perceived in a new setting.”
Jeong’s nationmates Yang Hyun-jun, Oh Hyeon-gyu, and Kwon Hyeok-kyu were all previously signed by Celtic, but none of them have been able to establish a consistent starting position. Due to the Asian Cup, Parkhead will be without the services of important midfielder Reo Hatate for the foreseeable future.
