Report :Alabama loses leading tackler to big ten power in transfer portal
Alabama will be operating without its leading tackler next season.
Former Crimson Tide safety Caleb Downs, who entered the transfer portal earlier this week, has committed to Ohio State, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Downs, who is already considered to be among the best prospects in the 2026 NFL draft, recorded a team-high 107 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions in 14 games to earn the title of All-American.
Since Nick Saban declared his retirement earlier this month, Downs has joined the list of over thirty Alabama players who have accessed the transfer portal.
Before declaring for the NFL draft, Downs will play at least two more seasons in college. It looks like he’ll play in the redesigned Big Ten for Buckeyes coach Ryan Day during his sophomore season.
