Celtic will block offers for Cameron Carter-Vickers this month amid interest from Premier League sides, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Hoops “wouldn’t consider” selling the centre-back, who they value at £20million.
West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford are reportedly showing interest in the USMNT international this month; however, Celtic is anticipated to reject any bids made in January.
This season, Brendan Rodgers’ team has struggled defensively, thus they believe they can’t afford to part with one of their strongest defensive alternatives, even at a high cost.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Hoops in 2021 after first joining on loan from Tottenham, has been a standout for the team.
He signed a long-term contract for a reported £6 million, but if interest in subsequent windows persists, the Hoops should expect to turn a healthy profit.
He has missed 12 games this season in all competitions due to injuries, including Celtic’s most recent league games against St. Mirren and Rangers.
Carter-Vickers would be one of the club’s record departures if Celtic is able to collect their £20 million valuation for him; Jota’s rumored £25 million move to Al Ittihad in the summer would be the highest.
Rangers are currently in second place in the league, eight points behind Celtic, who are still at the top.
Their next match comes on Sunday afternoon (January 21) in the Scottish Cup, against fifth-tier Buckie Thistle.
In other developments, sources say that Celtic is prepared to entertain bids for six players this month, including a major earner who makes £30,000 a week.
