Ange Postecoglou’s classy Timo Werner message and new partnership spotted in Tottenham training

Here we take a look behind the scenes at Timo Werner’s first training session as a Tottenham player following his loan move from RB Leipzig

Timo Werner is now on the training pitch at Hotspur Way with his new Tottenham teammates after completing his loan move from RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening. The German international joins Spurs on a deal until the end

of the year, and the contract with the Bundesliga team includes a £15.5 million buyout option for Tottenham to acquire the 27-year-old.

With Son Heung-min representing South Korea at the Asian Cup, Ange Postecoglou needs another attacking option, thus the temporary signing of Werner could prove to be a very wise move. It’s clear that this signing has little risk and great payoff potential.

Following the announcement of his signing on Tuesday night, Werner reported directly to Hotspur Way to work alongside the rest of the Spurs team. Here is a look at what we observed during the training session at the club’s Enfield facility.

Welcome, Timo

The former Chelsea player arrived for training to find all of his new teammates waiting for him inside the gym before they went outside. In the video footage posted on Tottenham’s social media pages, Pedro Porro and goalkeepers Guglielmo Vicario and Alfie Whiteman are shown welcoming the new player.

As Werner lay flat on his back collaborating with a few Tottenham backroom staff members, Rodrigo Bentancur—who led the squad in Friday’s match against Burnley—came over to give the German a hug and say hello.The player was seen conversing with Richarlison in the gym in the club’s film, which provided a glimpse into Werner’s first day.

Once the players had finished their work in the gym and headed outside, head coach Postecoglou gathered all his players together and welcomed Werner in front of the group. Opening up on his group of players being a

Postecoglou emphasized the importance of ensuring Werner feels at ease despite the arrival of new players and his family, adding that he thinks the fresh addition may benefit the club.

“In my opinion, we discuss family a lot, and we allow people to into our process. We’ve succeeded in making them feel at ease both on and off the field, and I believe he can still assist us since, in addition to helping us, he is here for his career. Therefore, it’s crucial that we make an effort to make him feel at ease.

An enjoyable first day

Working hard on the training field alongside his new Tottenham teammates, Werner appeared to be enjoying his first day in the team. The adaptable striker summarized his first day as a Tottenham player in a nine-word post that he posted on Instagram on Wednesday night.

“My first day with the Spurs! It was rather pleasant,” he wrote. A few Tottenham players, including James Maddison, Richarlison, and Giovani Lo Celso, liked the Instagram post.

Hopefully Werner’s day at Tottenham will be the first of many wonderful ones.

Spurs’ video footage of Werner’s first training day finished with some clips of the striker working on the attacking side of his game. Showcasing his ability to find the net with a low finish into the bottom corner, the German also

worked with his fellow frontmen on combinations in the last third.

With Bryan Gil on the right and Rickardson as the striker, Werner operated from the left flank. He was able to send the ball across goal a few times for the Brazilian to score. With Son away on international duty, there’s a fair chance the new acquisition will make his Tottenham debut on the left wing against Manchester United on Sunday. Thus, Werner’s partnership with Richarlison, who will again operate in the middle, will be crucial for Spurs.

It’s imperative that they strengthen their bond on the training field as Postecoglou hopes the two will click on the field, hopefully starting on Sunday at Old Trafford.
