Tottenham told lethal striker with 19 goals in 16 games ‘interested’ in move despite Werner loan swoop
Tottenham have been told that one of their top striker targets ‘would be interested’ in a move to north London, despite the club closing in on a loan deal for Timo Werner.
The Germany striker is set to have a physical before joining Spurs on loan, with the possibility of a permanent £15.5 million move in the summer if he performs well.
Due to Werner’s prior difficulties at Chelsea, the move has drawn criticism from some quarters, but some former Tottenham players have welcomed it, thinking the German could still have a significant influence in north London.
However, there are still reports that the team is looking for a real No. 9 because Werner is still viewed more as a wide player in a front three, despite the impending agreement.
Although Richarlison has improved this season, he still wastes too many opportunities to truly convince that he is the England captain’s long-term replacement. Ange Postecoglou still needs to replace Harry Kane.
Although names like Dusan Vlahovic, Ivan Toney, and Santiago Gimenez have been mentioned as potential targets for Spurs, writer Paul Brown has now provided an update on the team’s ongoing connection to Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.
Late in December, Tuttomercatoweb revealed that Tottenham is vying for Guirassy’s signature with AC Milan and several other English teams.
In fact, The Sun revealed last month that Manchester United have been keeping an eye on the forward, who has scored an incredible 19 goals in 16 games for Stuttgart this year.
Guirassy would consider Tottenham move
Brown has stated that the 27-year-old Guinea international, who has been described as “phenomenal” by Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness, could be tempted to join Spurs in the January window.
Brown told GiveMeSport: “I think there might be a lot of clubs coming in for him and it’ll be interesting to see whether he decides he fancies a move or not, but I certainly think that going to Spurs would interest him.
He’s going to play a lot there; they seem like a team on the rise, and if they can keep up their momentum and get some players back healthy, it wouldn’t surprise me if they made it into the Champions League once more this season.
“Therefore, I believe they would present a very appealing offer to someone like Guirassy, and I am fairly certain he is on their list.”
Though Guirassy is part of Guinea’s roster for the African Cup of Nations, any move for the player would have to wait.
On Sunday, January 14, Tottenham will return to Premier League action when they visit Manchester United.
