John Wenham believes three Under-18 stars at Tottenham could be in line for a promotion amid recent developments at Under-21 level.
Spurs’ Under-21s are flying high, currently sitting at the top of Premier League 2 after winning every game in the competition so far this season.
After a mid-season break, they will play again on Saturday, January 6, in the Premier League Cup against Bristol City Under-21s. However, they may make some roster changes in the coming weeks.
Josh Keeley, who has started a lot of the team’s games this season, has joined National League side Barnet on loan, thus he won’t be available for selection (Spurs’ Official Academy X, 4 January).
Furthermore, on January 2, Fabrizio Romano revealed on his official X account that Jude Soonsup-Bell might go out on loan following his strong performances this season.
Wenham believes a few more players will head out the door this month, which would open up pathways for some of the club’s Under-18 stars to be promoted.
In an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wayneham stated: “When the Under-21s play again, they’ll be a different team. Although I believe a few players may go on loan this month, there are many outstanding Under-18 players who are itching to advance, like Mikey Moore, Oliver Irow, and Damola Ajayi.
“All of these guys are capable of competing at a higher level and are willing to advance and make their mark.
“If Jamie Donley is one of the players that goes out on loan, they’ll be OK and have a more than capable focal point in Dane Scarlett, who is far too excellent for Under-21 football and could be leading the line.
“I’ve been incredibly impressed with the growth this season,” Donley and Alfie Dorrington appear to be a regular part of the first team squad these days, and they continue to play for the Under-21s, which is crucial since it ensures they aren’t losing out on any playing time.
“I’m happy for them, and I think Wayne Burnett did a great job.”
