Well, last night’s game between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley did not exactly pan out like how all of us would

had anticipated that Ange Postecoglou would work his sorcery and watch as his side trampled the defenseless Clarets. But credit to Vincent Kompany’s team—they were competitive.

Spurs needed a miracle goal from Pedro Porro in the 78th minute to win the match. The North London team persistently attempted to penetrate Burnley’s defense, but they were unable. Spurs could have won with five goals on any other day.

The pregame conversation revolved around Tottenham defender Eric Dier’s predicament.According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, he was considered by Bayern as a top target for a January deal.

Subsequently, the Englishman was not in the squad to face Burnley in the FA Cup. One assumed that it had to do

with the connections to Germany. That appears not to have been the case, as Dier was purportedly hurt.

In the post-match news conference, Ange Postecoglou was questioned by Sky Sports about why Dier was left off the roster after the game. The reporter questioned again whether the manager’s injury had anything to do with the Bayern connections after he disclosed his injury. The Australian refused to accept it.

He was unable to participate due to an injury and pulled up sore during training. It’s not related to [the transfer rumour], so don’t doubt my honesty. He is hurt, that much is clear. He was hurt, but ask him. There is no connection between it and anything else.

Tottenham boss Postecoglou defends his honour

Postecoglou was very clear in his answer. If he had not been selected, the manager says he would have revealed that. There is no point in arguing about the situation. The Englishman might actually be injured.

The manager did reveal that a transfer would be a separate issue and if something was going on, he wasn’t aware of that. This comes as no surprise as all clubs keep the cards close to their chest until a transfer goes through.

It increasingly looks like irrespective of whether he is injured or not, Eric Dier has played his last game in a Spurs shirt. It could only be a matter of time before his move to Germany becomes official.
