‘Immediately pessimistic’: Tottenham have realised straight away they can’t sign £35m player

Jean-Clair Todibo has been said to be one of Tottenham’s top transfer targets this month.

The Spurs are reportedly making every attempt to sign Todibo, but it doesn’t seem like their best efforts will be sufficient.

In fact, Ben Jacobs gave an update on Toddibo’s circumstances when appearing on The Done transaction Show. He claims that although Spurs had begun negotiations to sign the center-half, they were instantly skeptical of their chances of completing the transaction.

Because Nice has been unwavering in their belief that Todibo is, quite simply, not for sale this month, Jacobs claims that Spurs have now pretty much moved on from the player.

Spurs immediately pessimistic over Todibo deal

Jacobs shared what he’s heard about the £35m player.

“I reiterate what I said on the Spurs front. For Spurs, Todibo was a clear target, they started talks and they were immediately pessimistic, that’s why they’ve moved on. The reason for that isn’t some plot by Ratcliffe to come in at Man United and then sell the player to Manchester United, it’s because Nice simply don’t want to sell,” Jacobs said.

Backup already lined up

Tottenham appears to have wasted little time in lining up a backup plan, despite being instantly knocked back for Todibo.

In fact, it appears that Radu Dragusin has emerged as Tottenham’s top center-back target, and a personal contract has reportedly already been reached.

Since Spurs currently need depth at center-half, Todibo would have been a better decision overall, but getting a body through the door as quickly as possible is likely the most crucial thing.

Todibo won’t be leaving Nice this month by the sounds of it, but with so many clubs interested, we wouldn’t be shocked if a Premier League move was on the cards this summer.
