An agreement to buy Ivan Perisic. The Croatian international, who was crucial to the Lilywhites in the first few weeks of the 2023–24 campaign, is presently out following a complicated anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee in September.

Spurs announced at the time that Perisic “is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season” after sustaining the injury in non-contact training. The 34-year-old will be making every effort to position himself to play in the German competition when Croatia participates in Euro 2024 at the end of the current term.

Hajduk sporting director Nikolicius talked about a potential move for the seasoned player as the January transfer market is now open for business. He also explained why they are not required to complete a deal by the time the Premier League transfer window ends at 11 p.m. on Thursday, February 1.

Nikolicius made his remarks in response to Hajduk manager Mislav Karoglan’s recent statement to Dalmatinski Portal (via Sport Witness) expressing his satisfaction if the Croatian team were to complete a deal for Perisic. “I don’t know how he is recovering from the injury, and all I can say is that I would prefer to have him in the dressing room whenever possible,” he remarked.

In the midst of speculation that Perisic might leave Tottenham when Ange Postecoglou took over as manager last summer, the head coach praised the former Bayern Munich player and made his feelings about him quite apparent on the eve of the new campaign.

Postecoglou clarified, “He’s been playing, and playing very well.” I’ve been following his career for a while; he takes great care of himself, plays like a true professional, and has had a great preseason. He therefore has a future with the club and with me.”

Before getting hurt, Perisic had six games for Tottenham to open the season with two assists.
