‘That could be crucial’: Ornstein says he’s now expecting PL sides to target £15m Tottenham player

David Ornstein has suggested that there is expected to be Premier League interest in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the January transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur open to selling the Dane this month.

It would perhaps not be a huge shock to see Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave Spurs in the coming weeks. The 28-year-old has actually featured in every single Premier League game after the opening day of this campaign. However, he has only started four games for Ange Postecoglou in the top-flight.

With that, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding the former Southampton captain. Napoli are one of the sides linked with a move for Hojbjerg.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, David Ornstein suggested that Tottenham are looking to bolster

their available resources for this month. Thus Hojbjerg is free to depart.

It’s interesting that he mentioned the possibility of moving to one of Spurs’ elite opponents.

“They want the players to leave.” Hugo Lloris left for LAFC already. That removes his income off the wage bill, which is important in this era of financial fair play, but it also doesn’t generate a transfer fee, he stated.

“They would gladly extend their contract to Eric Dier, who is not involved in the plans and expires in the summer. Moreover, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who might potentially produce a transfer charge for them. And that might be really important.
