‘Brilliant’ player given £60m price-tag for January, Tottenham won’t be able to sign him now

Chelsea have reportedly slapped a £60 million price tag on Conor Gallagher this month, which could ultimately price Tottenham Hotspur out of a move.

Spurs have been strongly linked to a January raid on Conor Gallagher, whose future at Chelsea appears to be in doubt.

Just last week, Gianluca Di Marzio stated that the Spurs had begun negotiations with the Blues regarding a transfer for Gallagher.

However, current reports indicate that these discussions have not yet taken place.

This season, Gallagher has been a standout player for Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino, captaining the team when Reece James was not available.

Last week, the 23-year-old’s connections to Spurs caused some controversy when Jamie Carragher called Chelsea a “mess.”

However, Football Transfers claims that Spurs will not be able to pay Gallagher this month.

Tottenham won’t sign Gallagher in January

According to Football Transfers, Gallagher is unlikely to be signed by Tottenham this month, despite recent speculations to the contrary.

Chelsea’s demand for £60 million is the reason for this—they won’t even entertain selling the Englishman.

The source states that Spurs are probably going to wait until the summer to pursue Gallagher because of Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions.

Gallagher’s “brilliant” performances while wearing a Chelsea shirt this season have won him praise. Under Pochettino, the Englishman has become a star performer.

Spurs may naturally need a midfield player this month as Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are leaving for AFCON 2024.

However, unless Chelsea drastically reduce their demands, a transfer for Gallagher is improbable at this time.

Gallagher is a player Tottenham would really like, especially since they are in need of midfield reinforcements. The Chelsea player also seems like the ideal complement to Ange Postecoglou’s fast-paced style of game.

If Spurs are unable to acquire Gallagher, they still have other options to consider; Kalvin Phillips is rumored to be a target.
