Ange Postecoglou says ‘phenomenal’ Tottenham player is now back from injury
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has provided some good news on the player front ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Everton.
Giovani Lo Celso, Ashley Phillips, and Brendan Johnson are all expected to be available for the 3 p.m. kickoff at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to the team’s manager.
Following a head clash during Tottenham’s victory over Nottingham Forest last week, Johnson was forced to leave the game early; nevertheless, he has been training all week.
Due to an injured muscle, Lo Celso was unable to play for Spurs against the Reds. He was doubted prior to the Toffees game, but Postecoglou stated he is also back.
Last but not least, Phillips returns to the squad early after suffering an ankle injury while participating in international competition for England’s Under-19 squad in November.
During his news conference, Postecoglou is quoted by BBC Sport as saying, “Gio Lo Celso is back.”
“Yves Bissouma and Destiny Udogie, the two boys we are missing, are suspended, but other than them, he and everyone else are doing well.
“Gio has been training for the past few days, and Ashley Phillips is available as well.”
According to reports, Postecoglou was prepared to give Phillips his debut in November; however, the injuries he sustained while serving abroad tragically put an end to that.
Now that the “phenomenal” talent is back on track, he shouldn’t have to wait too long to play in his first senior minutes for the Spurs.
