Spurs intend to sign a central defender next month, as many trustworthy media sources have reported. This much is nearly common knowledge.

Among the most active defenders in his division is him.

Spurs and manager Ange Postecoglou have made acquiring a center-back their primary goal, according to Sky Sports. This comes after Micky van de Ven’s chronic hamstring problem exposed their acute lack of choices. Despite the excellent play of Ben Davies, the team still needs to sign a center back, as the Spurs head coach has acknowledged.

Postecoglou recently remarked of Davies, “Ben’s still getting used to it” (via”He’s performed incredibly well. Particularly in our organization, center-back is still one of the few places where players with exceptional qualities are required. His ability to cover for us there has been a great blessing.

“He’s really strong at absorbing knowledge, and that has helped him. He truly understands the game—not just his own job but also how we want to play. In that regard, having Romero beside him and Vic, who has also assumed a bit of a leadership position, is beneficial. In the end, we still need to buy a new center-back since we are now a little anxious because we are already short and could run out of players if something were to happen again.”

According to recent sources, Radu Dragusin, a standout for Genoa, may be one such alternative.
