‘He doesn’t know’: £20m Tottenham player has no idea if he’ll be staying at Spurs now
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was brilliant for Tottenham on Monday evening as Spurs beat Fulham 2-0.
Yves Bissouma’s injury forced the north London club to turn to the Dane, and despite the fact that Hojbjerg hasn’t played much football this season, he really stood up against Fulham.
As Spurs sought to cut the fat from their team in the summer, Hojbjerg was at the center of a number of transfer rumors, according to Football. There are still some questions over Londoner Lee Wilmot’s future.
In fact, Wilmot claimed on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that Hojbjerg is still unsure of his long-term future with the club.
Hojbjerg doesn’t know if he’s staying
The future and Monday’s performance of the £20 million player were discussed by Wilmot.
“Hojbjerg demonstrated his class as a person. Even though he is unsure of whether the club will be his long-term home, he came in and gave it his all. He is aware that Bissouma is Ange Postecoglou’s first choice for the position, according to Wilmot.
“I cannot criticize Hojbjerg’s professionalism.”
Hojbjerg earning his stripes
The midfielder did appear to be unnecessary for Tottenham this season, but his performance against Fulham showed that he could still contribute to this team.
Although he won’t start in place of Yves Bissouma, Hojbjerg is the kind of player who is extremely useful to have on the bench if Spurs are serious about making a title bid this season.
Tottenham may have to reevaluate their position on the midfielder’s future if he continues to play like this.
If Hojbjerg decides to remain at Tottenham beyond this season, don’t be too startled because he’s still a valuable player.
