Bayern Munich planning to raid Tottenham Hotspur for another English star after Harry Kane transfer

Bayern Munich planning to raid Tottenham Hotspur for Eric Dier

The last time Bayern Munich came shopping from the Tottenham Hotspur squad, they signed Harry Kane, and it looks like they are going to revisit to try and snap up Eric Dier in January.

When Bayern bought Kane from us, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t think it would affect us big time. However, Tottenham led by an astute Ange Postecoglou have started the season showing no signs of a hangover from this transfer.

Major credit must be given to captain Son Heung-min and vice-captain James Maddison in this regard. The duo have combined to devastating effect and ensured that the North London club don’t miss their talisman.

The next name on Bayern’s shopping list is thus brought up. As we assumed when Kane left us in the summer, he is neither a name we will be too terrified to lose nor a name that is indispensable to the squad.

The German powerhouses are reportedly interested in signing Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast (h/t Daily Mail). Under Ange Postecoglou, the English defender hasn’t really made a lot of appearances.

Ange has stronger choices to choose from in defense this year, so he has benched the seasoned Englishman, in contrast to prior campaigns where he was one of the first names on the squad sheet at Tottenham whether or not he warranted it.

Dier cannot realistically play ahead of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and it appears that the defender will leave the team in January. Bayern Munich may seek to the Tottenham player if they need a backup defense.

Due to major player injuries, the German giants are also experiencing problems in the center of their defense. They could probably use Dier as a rotational option because they are little understaffed in that aspect.

Tottenham might want to sign a central defender first if they decide to let Dier leave if he does. If we can recruit a talented young player like Van de Ven, that might not be such a bad thing. The solution will be revealed in January.
