Football pundit Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to secure a win at home to Fulham on Monday, and praised the work Ange Postecoglou has done so far at the club.

Tottenham have flown out of the traps this season, and remain unbeaten in the first eight league games under Postecoglou. The Lilywhites went into the international break at the top of the Premier League table.

Unfortunately, depending on how Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool perform this weekend, there is a real probability that Spurs will have dropped down the table by the time they visit Fulham on Monday night.

Spurs will, however, be hoping that players like Heung-min Son and James Maddison can continue their strong play in order to maintain the unbeaten record and, ideally, propel the North London club back to the top.

Currently sitting in 12th place in the standings, Fulham has had trouble finding its shooting form this year. Despite this, there are no simple games in this category.

Spurs are looking good to Lawrenson

In his regular weekend predictions for Paddy Power, Mark Lawrenson has tipped Tottenham to take all three points on Monday fairly comfortably, and branded Postecoglou a ‘special’ manager.

He said: “Spurs have done well and Ange Postecoglou has done great. He’s obviously got something special about him. Fulham are not great on the road so it’s got to be a home win as they’ve not been Spursy – yet!”

I’ve had the same prediction for this game all along. Fulham won’t be able to breach our defense, and Postecoglou’s players will be eager to keep up their stellar performance, especially at home. It would be fantastic to finish the weekend strong and remain in first place.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski is ready to be involved in the upcoming game against Fulham, despite the harrowing experience he and the Swedish national team endured during a recent Euro 2024 qualifier in Brussels.

Kulusevski was among the athletes and spectators in the stadium in Brussels during this week’s terror assault.

Due to the unfortunate events that took place in the Belgian capital, the qualifier between Sweden and Belgium had to be called off.

Two traveling fans unfortunately perished in a terrorist strike hours before the game.

While law enforcement captured the ISIS gunman responsible for the incident, players and spectators were compelled to remain inside the stadium for about two hours.

After halftime, both teams made the decision to stay off the field in a show of support and unity, and the game was called off.

UEFA later confirmed that the game would not be replayed, with the score standing as the final result.

Dejan Kulusevski spoke with Ange Postecoglou upon his arrival at Tottenham, and the coach was able to confirm that the player is prepared to play Fulham.

According to the management (via Daily Mail):

He is fine. I talked with him. We shake our heads at these things, as do others. When we watch a football game, these things take place. It’s depressing to realize how similar it is to your own reality, but Decky is doing OK. He has returned, exercised with the group on Thursday, and is prepared to travel.

For players, a situation like this might be devastating.

Thankfully, there weren’t many injuries, and the spectators and athletes inside the stadium were unharmed.
