Rio Ferdinand lavishes praise on Ange Postecoglou for bringing ‘steeliness’ to Tottenham

Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for the Australian manager after his Spurs side held out for a win against Luton despite getting a man sent off.

After holding off a Luton Town team that was battling for its life, the North London club ended the day at the top of the league.

Although many thought Spurs would win easily, Yves Bissouma’s red card in the 45th minute changed everything.

A few minutes after receiving his first caution for a cynical foul in the centre of the field, the midfielder was given another one for simulation.

After Elijah Adebayo wasted a clear-cut opportunity to score from three yards out, Luton came out strong in the second half and could have seized the lead.

Micky van de Ven’s strike from a corner gave Spurs the lead in the 52nd minute after they had survived the storm.

Tottenham was able to hold on, and Ferdinand couldn’t help but congratulate Postecoglou for giving his team a sense of “steeliness.”

After the game, he told TNT Sports, “I think this is a huge result for the changing room, the fanbase obviously but most importantly for the changing room.”

Over the past year or two, this Tottenham team has a soft tummy. They would have lost this game a year ago. They would have been reduced to ten men, capitulated, and disintegrated. But [Postecoglou] has now given this team a steeliness.

The two center halves of today must perform when there are just ten players left. Romero and Van de Ven had outstanding defensive play. In light of that, this team is moving in the correct direction.

“Any discussion of the championship is premature.”

Not an easy deal’ – Romano says Man Utd are now chasing Tottenham target

Fabrizio Romano has said that Manchester United are also interested in Tottenham target Edmond Tapsoba, but the Red Devils will find the deal quite difficult to do.

Micky van de Ven, a summer signing from Wolfsburg, has boosted Spurs’ defense, and the Dutchman has made a quick impression in North London.

Some Tottenham supporters, however, may believe that the team could have done more to improve their alternatives in central defense.

Tapsoba (GiveMeSport), another player who was apparently high on the Lilywhites’ wishlist throughout the summer, remained at Bayer Leverkusen.

Spurs suffered a setback when the Bundesliga team revealed last month that the Burkina Faso international had signed a new five-year contract with the organization.

Man United and Spurs looking at Edmond Tapsoba

This has not, however, put an end to rumors that Tapsoba will be moving to Tottenham, with Football Insider reporting a few days ago that the 24-year-old is still on the club’s shortlist of two players to replace Eric Dier in January.

Now that the January timeframe is approaching, Romano has revealed that Erik Ten Hag’s men are also keeping a close check on Tapsoba.

On his YouTube channel, the journalist spoke of United’s search of a center back: “Also Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen. He was on Tottenham’s list, but is now also on Manchester United’s, and they value him as a player. He recently extended his contract at Leverkusen, so it is not an easy trade.

Given how well Leverkusen has started the season and that Tapsoba just signed a new deal, the German team will probably seek a colossal sum of money for the 24-year-old in January. Tottenham may favor less expensive candidates like Lloyd Kelly.
