Stewart Robson fired shots at Daniel Levy for seemingly setting the precedent of Tottenham Hotspur becoming a ‘selling club’ following Harry Kane’s comments.

The striker who recently left Tottenham noted the differences between the pressures he experienced at the Premier League club and those he now experiences at Bayern Munich.

But according to Robson, a former Arsenal player, “the Tottenham players already knew” that crucial distinction because Daniel Levy “keeps selling players,” which prevents the London club from winning trophies, while Bayern Munich “buys the best players,” as he said to ESPN, to “dominate in the league and in Europe.”

Nobody should be surprised by this as Spurs have only been able to compete for the Premier League title on one occasion and win one trophy since the turn of the century.

This is despite Harry Kane, led by Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout, setting such a platform for the team, including helping them reach the European Cup final.

But that’s where some level the criticism at Levy because they think he didn’t push the boat out enough to help Spurs get over that line and become a trophy-winning force.

Reaction to Harry Kane’s comments about Tottenham

Robson questioned, “I believe the Spurs players already know it, don’t they?” Spurs is a team that has demonstrated over the years that it is more of a selling team than a buying team.

You are not aiming to be the best team you can be if you continually selling players, like Daniel Levy has done.

“Bayern Munich has consistently done that over the years. In an effort to rule the league and strive to rule Europe, they have tried to buy the best players. Since how long ago have Spurs won anything? Apart from the fact that Leicester won the championship, they have been utterly off the mark.

“I am not surprised that he (Kane) said it. And I am not surprised that the players already know it.”

Even though it’s still early, the new Tottenham manager has had a strong start at Hotspur Way, winning over the support of the supporters.

Yes, the Spurs supporters are ecstatic that their team is undefeated after four Premier League games, but I believe that they are more pleased by the fact that they are playing an offensive style of football.

The fans believe that their team is returning to its former selves; all that remains is to build on this and strive to win those titles.
