‘Bullied’ – Alan Shearer names ‘outstanding’ West Ham player in Team of the Week
Pundit Alan Shearer has named West Ham United striker Michail Antonio in his Premier League Team of the Week.
On Saturday, August 26, the Jamaican international scored his team’s third and final goal in a 3-1 victory over Brighton.
The signing of In the victory, James Ward-Prowse scored his first goal for West Ham, while Jarrod Bowen also scored.
The Hammers, who are unblemished through their first three games of the new season, were defeated by the hosts thanks to a late goal from Pascal Gross.
Following his performance, Shearer included Antonio in his Team of the Week, noting on the official Premier League website on August 28: “Bullied Brighton’s defense all match and scored another outstanding goal.”
Antonio’s goal, which gave his team all three points on their journey to the south coast, was truly outstanding. Following their opening-day 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, West Ham defeated Chelsea 3-1 at the London Stadium thanks to his well-taken goal against them.
The East London club now sits second in the Premier League standings with seven points after three games, trailing only Manchester City, who have won all three of their contests.
While wearing claret and blue, Antonio has played a variety of positions and hasn’t always been a consistent goal scorer.
But in these early moments, he is skillfully leading the line, keeping the ball up, bringing his fellow attackers into play, and also claiming some of the credit for himself.
When the striker received the ball shortly before scoring, he had a lot to accomplish. Antonio turned deftly, then fired the ball into the goal.
