The Golden State Warriors, despite having a largely healthy roster, are in serious trouble after missing the playoffs. It’s obvious that the core group of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Steph Curry is no longer relevant.
Four championships were won during their fantastic run, but all good things come to an end. Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports thinks it’s time for adjustments.
In the broadcast of “The Herd” airing on April 17, Cowherd declared, “It is time for the big pivot.”
One of the Los Angeles Lakers players might be involved in that “big pivot.” In the event that the Lakers’ season is disappointing, Cowherd suggested that LeBron James go with the Warriors.
“I would call LeBron if he gets frustrated with D-Lo, depending on how the Lakers season plays out,” Cowherd remarked. “LeBron, as everyone knows, is close with Draymond. The one player he stated he would always consider playing with is Steph Curry. You could ask LeBron’s friends or even LeBron himself.”
The timing of James and Curry’s recent flirtations with the idea of playing together more may make sense. Although they could lose in the opening round, the Lakers are still in the playoffs. Getting along with Curry might increase his chances of winning titles.
LeBron James Can Be Free Agent
This offseason, LeBron James may have a lot of alternatives. If he so chooses, he can choose to enter free agency and forego his contract. There is less danger in him choosing to opt out of his contract because he is still performing at such a high level.
James hasn’t indicated that he wishes to quit the Lakers. In Los Angeles, his family is content. Nevertheless, he wouldn’t have to travel far to play for Golden State. It’s possible that he may stay in Los Angeles and spend some time in San Francisco.
The Warriors aren’t any more competitive than the Lakers, which is the issue. One could argue that Los Angeles has a better chance of winning a championship. James is 39 and Steph Curry is 36. In an 82-game season, it would be difficult for a duo that age to win a championship. Although they would be a captivating pair on television, it’s hard to imagine them being serious competitors.
What About Steph Curry to Los Angeles Lakers?
The possibility of Steph Curry joining the Lakers is one that makes sense. If the guard were to join a new team this offseason, Los Angeles is one of the favorites to acquire him. Curry probably won’t stay with the Warriors, but the Lakers would be a logical destination for him.
Consistent shooting is the one area where Los Angeles has struggled since pairing with Anthony Davis and LeBron James. The greatest shooter in NBA history, Curry would be a fantastic addition to the Lakers’ all-star team. That is a team capable of contending for a title.
Despite being two of the NBA’s most well-known teams, the Lakers and Warriors have had a difficult season. It will be fascinating to watch if there are any player swaps between the two teams. There might be significant changes.
