The Denver Broncos desperately need to find their quarterback of the future.
Many think that man will be selected in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.
And while many mock drafts may indicate that, Chris Trapasso, a football writer for CBS Sports, believes general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton will take a another route. Not even on the attacking end of the ball, in actuality.
According to Trapasso, the Broncos will select Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold with the 12th overall pick.
With the incredibly attentive and silky cornerback, the Broncos will have more secondary help, according to Trapasso.
Denver is drafting Arnold in this second mock draft; last month, NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah made the identical prediction.

Arnold’s a good player, no one doubts that. He had five interceptions and 63 tackles last year for the Crimson Tide. But with the obvious need at quarterback, Broncos Country might roll their eyes at taking another corner from Alabama. Pat Surtain II is a great talent, but he hasn’t helped the team stop their streak of seven consecutive losing seasons. A defensive back can only impact the game so much.
However, supporters may need to prepare for it as there isn’t a dependable No. 2 corner on the squad right now. Remarkably, Trapasso has Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy selected No. 11 by the Vikings, one selection ahead of the Broncos. Bo Nix is plummeting all the way to No. 27 for the Cardinals, while Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. isn’t expected to play until the second round.
Payton and Paton will be evaluating all positions at the NFL Combine the following week, not just quarterbacks. Maybe this rough draft will turn out to be accurate if they end up falling in love with Arnold.
