‘I’m absolutely staggered’… Chris Sutton can’t believe what he’s heard about Ange Postecoglou now

Ange Postecoglou hit the ground running when he arrived at Tottenham.

After three months on the job, the Australian appeared to have revolutionized the Spurs, as they were now leading the league.

Nonetheless, concerns are being raised about Tottenham and their manager following a run of only six victories in their last 15 games.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton took calls from Spurs supporters dissatisfied with the team’s current approach. He expressed shock that these criticisms are only now emerging, arguing that Spurs supporters were clamoring for this kind of playmaking under Antonio Conte’s leadership the previous season.

Chris Sutton shocked by Ange Postecoglou complaints

Sutton shared his verdict on what he’d heard some Spurs fans saying about Postecoglou.

“Do you know what Robbie? I thought these calls would come next season about Spurs needing to be more pragmatic, but we’ve had a couple of Spurs fans on now, I’m absolutely staggered by these fans we’ve had on, this is what they wanted and now they’re moaning about it, deary me,” Sutton said.

Bad run

Given his recent dismal performance, we completely see why Postecoglou is being questioned.

Six victories in fifteen games is insufficient by any measure. To put things in perspective, Antonio Conte was fired as Tottenham’s manager after the team had won seven of their previous fifteen games.

Naturally, it was impossible to overlook the fundamental problems at Spurs during the previous season, but in terms of on-field results, Spurs are regressing to the level they displayed for a significant portion of that campaign.

Tottenham must get better and regain the form they shown at the start of the Postecoglou era if they hope to place in the top four.
