‘He has that ability’: Clive Allen says £27m Tottenham player is absolutely ‘magnificent’

Tottenham Hotspur icon Clive Allen has praised Giovani Lo Celso following his impressive performance for Spurs last time out.

Speaking on the most recent episode of Inside Spurs, the Tottenham cult hero claims that Lo Celso’s performance against Bournemouth was “without a doubt” his best for the team.

The most recent player to turn around his Tottenham career under the guidance of new manager Ange Postecoglou is Lo Celso.

He is finally playing regularly and well for Spurs after years of uncertainty and several loans away from N17.

To be honest, Lo Celso’s season hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing either. He missed the entire month of September due to a hamstring injury.

Nevertheless, the £27 million player has participated in eight of Tottenham’s past nine games; his only injury kept him out of the game against Nottingham Forest.

Lo Celso recorded two assists in the game on New Year’s Eve, helping Spurs defeat the Cherries 3-1 with an incredible performance.

The 27-year-old assisted in setting up Pape Matar Sarr for his first goal in the ninth minute and then sent Son Heung-min a lovely through-ball to make it two on the 71st.

As he and Ben Haines offered commentary on the march, Allen stated of Lo Celso on Inside Spurs, “I have to say, I thought this was his best performance for the team.”

Another example of Ange Postecoglou’s Midas touch at Tottenham

It’s fantastic to see Lo Celso flourishing at Tottenham after Postecoglou gave him a chance.

After appearing to be surplus to needs, the Spurs boss has done an incredible job of returning several players to peak form.

Even if Tottenham is far from perfect—they will need to work on their depth and player disposal during the upcoming transfer windows—everything appears to be moving forward under Postecoglou.
