Tottenham icon, Newcastle legend and Arsenal hero predict the final Premier League top 4.
The Premier League’s summit is more competitive than it has been in a long time. In the competition for the title, teams like Liverpool and Arsenal are giving Manchester City a serious run for their money. Under Unai Emery, Aston Villa is looking as good as it has in the Premier League era, battling with the big boys at the top of the table.
All of it is unrelated to Tottenham Hotspur and their strong start to the season under Ange Postecoglou. To sum up, there is fierce competition at the top of the division, and the race to be eligible for the
Champions League will be as tough as it’s been for quite some time. With half the season left to play, there’s no telling who will eventually secure a finish in the top four and how positions will shape up. Some of the Premier League’s most iconic players have decided to have a go at predicting just that, though.
Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Jermain Defoe have all had their say on who they think will finish in the top four this season and what positions each team will finish in, with some very interesting results to say the least.
They gave their predictions after Arsenal vs West Ham
They agree on who will win the league
Shortly after Arsenal lost 2-0 to West Ham United, the three pundits were asked to give their predictions on who will finish in the top four and where each team will finish, on Prime, with the footage shared on the Prime Sports
channel on YouTube. Interestingly, they all believed that City will still win the Premier League and finish first despite the team’s recent troubles.
Even though Pep Guardiola’s team hasn’t played well lately and is currently five points behind Liverpool with a game remaining, the former players are all confident that they can still win the championship. They also concur that Liverpool, who have finished second most of the last few years, will take second place.
Things take a somewhat different turn in third place, though, as Henry responds hilariously to Defoe’s prediction, indicating that he was not impressed with his yell.
Defoe thinks Tottenham will finish above Arsenal
Henry wasn’t impressed at all
After agreeing on the first two positions, that changed when the pundits got to who would finish in third place. Shearer had Arsenal in that slot, which makes sense considering how close things currently are between the Gunners and Liverpool at the top. They’re currently just two points behind the Reds, but their loss against the Hammers has seen Jurgen Klopp’s side take control of first place.
Shearer believes they’ll fall down to third once City figure things out, but Defoe thinks they’ll fall even further
compared to that. Henry responded hilariously to the former Tottenham Hotspur player’s assertion that his previous team has what it takes to finish third and above the Gunners.
When the Frenchman learned of Defoe’s prognosis, he was unable to remain silent and exclaimed, “What? How did you say that? Tottenham? The former Arsenal player’s voice grew louder with each statement, indicating that he was plainly unhappy with the choice to rank their main competitors above them. Everyone involved was chuckling at this funny time. Defoe then predicted that Arsenal would finish in fourth place, but Shearer believes the position will go to Aston Villa. Henry declined to release any formal predictions, citing the early season as a reason for not doing so.
