Gabby Agbonlahor says Tottenham will become ‘frightening’ if they sign 27-year-old PL star now

TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Tottenham to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

Right now, Ange Postecoglou’s team is ranked fourth in the Premier League standings. Spurs have now won three straight games following a strong comeback that saw them win none of their previous five games. A week from today comes the January transfer window, and Agbonlahor thinks Tottenham will turn into a “frightening” squad if they sign Toney.

When all players are available and fit, Tottenham has a tremendously potent offensive line.

One of the top attackers in the Premier League is Hueng-min Son, while Dejan Kulusevski has had a fantastic season.

Prior to his injury, James Maddison was perhaps the finest player in the nation. To everyone’s astonishment, Rodriguez is on fire right now, having scored four goals in his previous three games.

Son, meanwhile, will be absent from Tottenham for a few weeks when he travels to represent South Korea. That’s not ideal in the long run, because they still haven’t replaced Harry Kane.

For this reason, Gabby Agbonlahor has advised Ange Postecoglou to look for a new striker to join next month. Ivan Toney, 27, seems to be the greatest fit in his opinion.

“Spurs are another team that needs to go out and get Ivan Toney. If I were Brentford, I would have an auction and say, ‘Here’s the amount, going once, going twice.'” the commentator said to talkSPORT.

“Spurs have added some excellent players: [James] Maddison, [Micky] Van de Ven, [Destiny] Udogie, who returned from his loan to the United States, and [Yves] Bissouma, who is performing better. Get a striker!”

Spurs would be terrifying with [Dejan] Kulusevski on the right and Son [Heung-min] on the left, a good striker like Toney behind Maddison!

Toney would be amazing at Tottenham

Tottenham should be commended for their performance this season, even if they lost Harry Kane just before the season began.

Among the world’s top attackers is the Englishman. Spurs could need a guy like him, even if he hasn’t truly been missed after carrying the team for years.

Naturally, it is currently impossible to bring the England captain back. Hence, signing Ivan Toney—a guy who Declan Rice in comparison to Kane last year—would be the next best thing.

With Maddison directing from behind, a front three of Son, Toney, and Kulusevski would make Tottenham a really formidable opponent.
