Former Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper said a lack of expertise among Eddie Jones’s support staff left Australia without the proper systems in place to compete at the World Cup earlier this year.
Along with veteran captain Michael Hooper and another seasoned flyhalf in Bernard Foley, Cooper was left off the tournament roster. For the first time, the two-time world champions were eliminated in the pool round.
But Cooper, who had spent the whole year in camp with the Wallabies prior to the squad’s announcement, claimed the level of preparation was nothing like that of Jones’s former coach Dave Rennie, who was fired in January.
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, he stated, “We didn’t really have a plan. That was one of the things I struggled with in these last six months leading into the World Cup.”
