Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has provided a positive fitness update on Ben Davies ahead of the Crystal Palace match.

Speaking to the media prior to Friday night’s Premier League trip, the Spurs boss confirms that the Wales international is available following his absence from the previous game.

Due to an injury sustained in training, Davies did not start on the bench for Tottenham’s victory over Fulham on Monday night.

In response to a question from football.london on Postecoglou’s fitness, the Spurs manager stated that the 30-year-old was good to go.

Indeed, he is alright, Postecoglou remarked. The day before training, he received a knock.

“It is fair to say our training at times teeters on the edge and unfortunately he copped a nasty one in training.

“Just a knock but it was the day before the game so it kept him out. He has training and is fine and ready to go.”

Davies available once again for Tottenham

This is good to hear. It seems like the knock wasn’t too much of an issue.

With such a quick turnaround between the Fulham match and the Palace clash, it’s not surprising to see

Postecoglou should use caution while managing his players, especially those who were absent during the international break.

It was fortunate that Davies received a rest following the blow because he started both of Wales’ games during the international break.

Even though Davies is a “magnificent” player, he hasn’t played much this term. Only four Premier League games have he played in, and those were all as a substitute.

But he did captain Tottenham against Fulham in the Carabao Cup, demonstrating how highly Postecoglou regards him both in the team and in the locker room.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez in recent months.

On his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has now asserted that the Spurs are interested in the Mexico international.

According to a July tweet from JFMX, if Harry Kane departed, the Spurs would make an offer for Gimenez.

While the England captain did eventually depart from Tottenham, Gimenez eluded the North London team.

The 22-year-old didn’t move, and he’s only getting better. From his 11 club appearances across all competitions this season, he has an incredible 15 goals and 3 assists.

Gimenez’s heroics have put him firmly on the radar of many of Europe’s top clubs.

Romano, speaking about the forward’s future, said Tottenham and their fellow suitors would have to pay around £39million for him.

In terms of Spurs’ interest, this came about as they were scouting Arne Slot as a potential managerial replacement for Antonio Conte.

“We know very well that many top clubs around Europe are keeping an eye on the boy,” said Romano.

“From what I’m hearing, something around €45million (£39million) could be the right fee to make it happen.

“Let’s see if (it’s) in the January window or in the summer window it depends on Feyenoord, more than on the player.

“There is interest from numerous clubs. Since Tottenham scouts reportedly started following the player last year, I believe we saw Tottenham linked.

“As they followed Slot, the manager, they observed that Santi Gimenez is unquestionably a highly talented striker.

Therefore, Santi Gimenez is undoubtedly a player that Tottenham and many other clubs throughout Europe find fascinating. For this reason, decisions will be taken in the coming months.

“However, there has been no statement from the player’s family as of yet, and his father is the only one managing his transfer.”

Our view

Even at this early point in the season, it speaks well of a player of exceptional caliber to have more goals than games played.

In fact, the forward is “among the top 10 players in Europe,” according to Morris Pagniello, an agent who is rumored to be close to Gimenez’s family.

In an August interview with MedioTiempo, he again connected the player to the Spurs.

And Tottenham would be getting a steal in Gimenez for that amount. That cost might increase, though, if enough teams can start a bidding war.
