Wrexham have won promotion to the Championship, and have been told one player will win them another next season.

The 2024/25 campaign has only just drawn to a close but there is already talk of the Red Dragons making a push for the top flight.

Ben Foster thinks Wrexham will reach the Premier League within the next five seasons, while one of their owners seems to have a shorter timeline.

After promotion was secured, Rob McElhenney sent a message that suggested he wanted to try and make it four in a row in 2025/26, playing down the idea of ‘consolidation’.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds discussed Wrexham reaching the Premier League recently, suggesting it could be done in 10 years.

Now, Harry Redknapp has suggested the Welsh outfit could make one signing to take them to the top tier of English football.

Harry Redknapp says Jamie Vardy will get Wrexham to Premier League

Jamie Vardy was linked to Wrexham in April after he confirmed he would be leaving Leicester City on a free transfer.

A transfer for Vardy has been questioned, with Foster suggesting it will not happen.

But when speaking to the Sun recently, Redknapp said the Leicester man would be a ‘fantastic signing’ and would get any side promoted from the second tier in 2025/26.

He stated: “Jamie Vardy would be a fantastic signing for Wrexham. He could get any team promoted next season from the Championship, I still think he has a lot to offer in a team that can make chances for him. It would be a great move for Wrexham.

“I think he’s fantastic. His work rate and everything about him is brilliant, if I was in the Championship I’d be moving heaven and earth to sign him.

“He would be a great value signing for any club, it’s a no-brainer in my eyes – he gives everything and works so hard. I’d have him any day if I was managing a club who were trying to get promoted.”

Vardy is not the only number nine who has been tipped for a move to Wales in the last couple of weeks.

A move for Patrick Bamford was mooted once more after previous interest in the 2025 winter window.

Ryan Hardie is thought to be a target yet again following Plymouth’s relegation to League One.

Elsewhere, Wrexham could sign Callum Robinson, who scored 12 goals in the second tier this season with Cardiff City.
