Tottenham told to replace £60 million star to win the Premier League title
Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has faced severe criticism for failing to score goals consistently since his big-money move from Everton.
Richarlison will need to be replaced if Tottenham Hotspur wants to win the Premier League championship this year, according to Tony Cascarino on talkSPORT.
“If they can hold out until Christmas and then make a signing that strengthens their forward line even more, I think they can be (in the title race).” It seems inevitable to me. Unless Richarlison develops a phase of his game that significantly improves and elevates him to a new level. He is the one who is weak in the forward line, where you expect more from him, according to Cascarino.
Since his £60 million transfer to Tottenham, the Brazilian striker has generally disappointed and unable to consistently produce goals. He managed just three goals in all competitions last year, and he has already scored twice this year.
Spurs would have expected a considerably higher level of performance for the money they spent. But whether Richarlison, who was a target for Saudi Arabian teams in the summer, can quickly return to his best remains to be seen.
Spurs need their attackers to come up and deliver regularly after losing Harry Kane in the summer. It was anticipated that Richarlison would come up and fill the gap left by the England international. However, his performances have generally fallen flat.
Since Harry Kane left Tottenham, Son Heung-min has been forced to take the offensive lining. When the transfer window reopens in January, it will be intriguing to watch if Tottenham chooses to spend money on a talented goal scorer.
Players like Victor Osimhen and Jonathan David have been associated with them. After selling Harry Kane for close to €100 million, Spurs undoubtedly have the funds to buy a top striker.Tottenham has had a strong start to the year and is presently leading the league. They’ll aim to contend for the championship this year and have a memorable season.
For the title challenge to last until the end of the campaign, Ange Postecoglou must add more talent. They may become legitimate title contenders if they had a talented striker who could help them out in the final third.
