Tottenham to agree takeover deal? Stefan Borson drops verdict after new arrival

Tottenham’s ownership group has faced intense scrutiny over the past few months following the club’s disappointing campaign.
Spurs fans have held protests against chairman Daniel Levy and majority owners ENIC due to their lack of spending and handling of off-field matters.
It was widely reported last year Levy has been in talks to sell a minority stake in the north London giants at a £3.75billion valuation.
The Guardian reported on 12 February Qatari investors want to take control of the club, but the proposed takeover could take the form of a phased buyout.
Tottenham have confirmed Peter Charrington’s appointment as a non-executive director this week as they look to strengthen their board.
The 53-year-old, who was previously CEO of Citi Private Bank, is currently a director of ENIC.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Charrington’s appointment is unlikely to be linked to any potential takeover deal.
Charrington has also now been listed as a person with significant control at Tottenham, while the cessation of Bryan Glinton as a person with significant control has also been confirmed.
Glinton and Katie Booth were appointed in October 2022 as trustees to run Joe Lewis’s family trust, which holds a 70.12 per cent stake in ENIC, with Levy and members of his family owning the remaining 29.88 per cent.

Borson insisted it’s difficult to see whether Charrington’s appointment is just to replace Glinton or an indication of something more meaningful.
He told Football Insider: “I’m not sure I’d draw in the dots in relation to any takeover deal.
“I don’t really know why they’d put another ENIC director in.
“I think they had a resignation as well, so I don’t know whether it’s one in, one out or whether it’s something more meaningful.
“The bottom line in terms of reading into it around takeovers, I’d read nothing into it at all.
“I don’t know what it specifically relates to, but I doubt it’s about takeovers.”

Richarlison wants to agree Tottenham exit
Football Insider revealed on 12 March Richarlison would be keen on a return to Everton if they were to pursue a deal for him this summer.
Richarlison told friends he wanted to quit Spurs in the January transfer window, with Saudi Pro League clubs showing an interest in signing him.
The Brazil international has made just nine appearances in the Premier League this season, where he’s scored two goals and registered one assist.
