Rugby Magazine If Not Him No One Else Fans Declared Cheslin The Best Player in The World
Readers of SARugbymag.co.za believe that Cheslin Kolbe is the front-runner to win World Rugby Player of the Year.
Kolbe is one of three Springboks nominated for World Rugby’s coveted 2024 Player of the Year award, which is shared by Pieter-Steph du Toit, the 2019 winner, and Eben Etzebeth, the player with the most caps in South Africa’s history. Caelan Doris, the Irish No. 8, rounds off the list of nominees.
The results of a survey conducted by SA Rugby magazine to determine who should be chosen as World Rugby’s greatest player for the 2024 season were unmistakable. With over 45% of the vote, Cheslin Kolbe was the clear favourite.
Eben Etzebeth came in third place with 16% of the vote, while Pieter-Steph du Toit received slightly less than 38%. With Irish No. 8 Caelan Doris garnering less than 1% of the vote and easily finishing in last place, it is evident where South Africans’ allegiances lay.
Choose your 2024 World Rugby Player of the Year from a season in which the Boks won 10 of their 12 games and won the Rugby Championship before Saturday’s encounter against Wales in Cardiff.
