Tottenham Hotspur told Real Madrid that they will not be selling or negotiating an exit for a player who made 34 appearances in Ange Postecoglou’s debut season.

Right now, before August ends, Spurs do still have a number of players who they may still be looking to move on.

TBR Football recently shared that Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham – a scenario that is also very favourable from the club’s point of view.

And judging by reports, Spurs would still be open to a departure for the likes of Emerson Royal, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso before the transfer window closes.

Those exits would leave Postecoglou’s squad fairly light on numbers, but Spurs would then strengthen as a result.

It was recently reported that Tottenham are pushing to sign Dominic Solanke – a move that would allow Son Heung-min to return to the left-wing.

And whilst Postecoglou would benefit from signing a new starter for his front three, his starting back four right now is a lot more settled.

Moreover, that explains why Tottenham are adamant that they won’t sell Cristian Romero.

Following his ‘exceptional’ displays for Argentina at the Copa America this summer, Real Madrid made it clear to Spurs that they would be willing to table an offer for Romero.

That’s via reliable Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul who shared the update on X.

Edul said that Spurs replied to Madrid’s enquiry in stern fashion, saying they will not sell Romero or negotiate any deal.

And as part of his update, the journalist confirmed that Romero’s current contract runs until 2026.

He shared: “Real Madrid were willing to make an offer for Cuti Romero in this transfer market and contacted Tottenham: they responded that they will not sell or negotiate him.

“He has a contract until 2026.”
