“Coach Roberts and Coach Armstrong said they run a lot of similar stuff as Alabama with their linebackers. They see a lot of similarities where Alabama would use me and where they want to use me. I would say the main thing was the education part about it. We went to the education facility and it was nice. I know they mentioned they are the top public school in the nation. That really was a big part in what I want to get out of a college football.”
While committed elsewhere, the 6-foot-1, 220-pounder has noticed Florida as the team pressing hardest for his services as of late. He took official visits to both UF and Ole Miss in the month of June, and also squeezed in another unofficial visit to Gainesville as well in June. The efforts UF’s staff has made to let it be known how wanted he is, has been something that has stood out to him the most. While on his official visit last month, the staff made their interest in him crystal clear.
“They care for you and about your success here,” he said last month. “In every aspect of being a student-athlete, they want you to succeed and be the best you can be. Coach Cannon Gibbs, Ron Roberts and Austin Armstrong, we spent a lot of time during the dinners and got to talk. We got done with meetings today, and they wanted to establish that they really prioritize me and that I want to be somewhere I feel wanted.”
With Johnson now in the fold the Gators hold nine commitments in their 2025 recruiting class. He joins Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards four-star edge Jalen Wiggins, Tampa (Fla.) Plant four-star running back Waltez Clark, Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward three-star wide receiver Joshua Moore, Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County three-star defensive lineman Jeramiah McCloud, Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside three-star tight end Tae’shaun Gelsey, Madison (MS) Central three-star tight end Micah Jones, Fulshear (TX) Katy Jordan three-star running back Chad Gasper, and Bridgton (ME) Academy three-star punter Hayden Craig.
247Sports currently ranks Johnson as the No. 27 ranked linebacker prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and No. 16 ranked prospect in the state of Alabama in the 2025 recruiting class.
