West Ham have issued a seven-word response to a new claim Jarrod Bowen could join Newcastle United this summer.

West Ham have spoken out after a new rumour involving talisman Jarrod Bowen emerged from a source close to Newcastle.

It was less than two weeks ago that Bowen was suddenly linked with a shock move to West Ham’s bitter rivals Spurs.

The Hammers described Spurs’ Bowen interest as ‘delusional’ and insisted he is not for sale.

But according to Northern Echo journalist Scott Wilson, he is and Newcastle United are confident of signing the England man.

Wilson reported on Tuesday that West Ham’s top scorer last season is now Newcastle’s number one target for their right-attacking role.

Newcastle ‘confident’ of doing deal with Hammers for Bowen

The report claims a big money move will be sent to West Ham by Newcastle’s Saudi owners ‘later in the transfer window’.

“There is a belief within the corridors of power at St James’ Park that a deal could be possible,” Wilson claims.

“Newcastle’s recruitment team feel Bowen could be persuaded that the Magpies have a better chance of challenging for regular continental competition in the next few years than his current employers.

“Reports have claimed that West Ham will demand more than £100m for Bowen, but that is regarded as fanciful within senior circles on Tyneside.”

Wilson’s claims have been made despite the fact the alleged Magpies target signed a new seven-year deal last season with Bowen insisting he wants to retire at West Ham.

Now West Ham have issued a seven-word response to the new claim Bowen could join Newcastle.

Speaking exclusively to Hammers News, the top spokesman inside the club was asked if there was any truth to the claims from the Echo.

The response was short and emphatic.

“Jarrod will NOT be sold this summer,” the key senior West Ham spokesman told Hammers News.

Those comments follow on from West Ham’s previous rebuttal of reports Bowen could be sold.

“Let me make this perfectly clear. He is not for sale,” the senior London Stadium contact said when Spurs were being linked 12 days ago.

Wilson’s report goes on to claim Newcastle have alternative options to Bowen including Forest’s Anthony Elanga, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville.

Those all sound much more realistic for Eddie Howe and the Saudi PIF than the interest in signing Bowen from West Ham.

Newcastle may be better advised not to waste their – or West Ham’s – time and just try for those alternatives instead.

Magpies can forget wasting everyone’s time

Bowen is very happy at West Ham, the club fanatically supported by his father-in-law to be Danny Dyer.

Just yesterday Declan Rice described Bowen as a West Ham legend when being interviewed together on England duty at the Euros.

For the avoidance of any doubt regarding Bowen’s commitment to West Ham, let’s revisit his comments when he penned his bumper new contract until 2030.

“When I was a little boy, I just wanted to play football at the highest level, and this club gave me the opportunity when no one else wanted to.

“Without this club, I wouldn’t have played for my country and I wouldn’t have scored the winning goal in a European final. So I think it’s only fair that I repay that faith.

“I want to stay here and I want to stay here for the rest of my career. This is a sign of that. It’s been a long time and there’s been a lot of talk, but it’s finally over the line and to get it done before I go away (with England) is so special.”
