West Bromwich Albion midfielder Okay Yokuslu is wanted back in his home country, giving the club one more chance to cash in on him this summer, according to the latest reports.
During the second half of the 2020–21 season, while the Baggies were still in the Premier League and managed by former Sunderland, Leeds United, and Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce, the Turkey international moved to The Hawthorns on loan. Yokuslu eventually returned to his parent club Celta Vigo after failing to keep the West Midlands team in the top division, despite a few strong performances in the middle of the park.
However, Yokuslu signed a three-year contract to return to West Brom permanently in the summer of 2022 after spending one more season in Galicia. The defensive midfielder won player of the year for the 2022–2023 season and became a fan favorite, even though the team was never able to return to the top division of English football.
The European powerhouse Galatasaray was reportedly eager to bring him back to the Turkish Super Lig in September as the summer transfer season was coming to an end. However, his agent, Batur Altıparmak, acknowledged that his client was content at West Bromwich Albion, where head coach Carlos Corberan was in charge.

But during the most recent January transfer window, Turkish publication HaberTS disclosed that Yokuslu had emerged as one of Tottenham’s top targets and was probably going to depart West Brom before the winter market closed at the start of February.
Even so, a deal never materialized, but according to Sports Digitale, Trabzonspor is preparing to make another attempt to recruit the 30-year-old, who is approaching the last 12 months of his contract with the Baggies. Before losing the defensive-minded player for free at the end of the 2024–2025 season, this is the club’s last opportunity to sell him. Furthermore, according to Transfermarkt, Yokuslu has a market worth of £2.5 million.
