Nabil Bentaleb hospitalised in France with ‘illness’

Nabil Bentaleb, who played for Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2017, was taken to hospital on Tuesday evening with an illness, though the nature of his condition is not known at this point.

Having signed for Tottenham as a youngster back in 2011, Bentaleb rose through the ranks of the academy to become a regular member of the Spurs first-team squad.

He made 66 appearances for Spurs, scoring one goal and adding five assists (Transfermarkt), before moving on to FC Schalke in the summer of 2017.

Bentaleb later spent a year on loan with Newcastle United, and since being released by Schalke in 2021, has turned out for Angers SCO, and is currently on the books with Ligue 1 side, Lille, where he made 34 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign (Transfermarkt).

We wish Nabil and his family all the best and hope he makes a very speedy recovery. It sounds like he is getting all the care he needs and hopefully, it’s nothing too serious.

He was a neat little player during his time with Spurs, and it’s great to see that he got his career back on track with Lille last year.
