Carlos Miguel preferred a move to Nottingham Forest over West Ham United as it will mean reuniting with former team-mate Murillo, according to Victor Pozella.
The South American journalist was asked by The Copa Club [7 June, 0:54s] if there was any truth to the reports that West Ham wanted to hijack Forest’s move.
While it does appear the Irons were in for the goalkeeper, he already has his heart set on a switch to City Ground with a deal now expected to go through.
“My information is that everything is right with Nottingham Forest,” Pozella said. “Carlos Miguel will go to them and not West Ham.
“There was also another club from France that wanted him, but he decided to go with Forest.
“He has some friends at Forest, like Murillo, who he previously played with. It’s safer for him to start in Europe, in the Premier League, playing for Forest.”

While the Irons deserve credit for being proactive in seeking summer transfer targets, this is now becoming a bit of a running theme.
Another unknown player was discovered, only for another team to come in for him – and a Premier League rival at that.
From the outside looking it, it seems as though Tim Steidten is stood at the bar at last orders going for whatever he possibly can.
The worry for West Ham is that they are spending so much time focusing on players from South America that other, bigger, targets will get away.
It is far too early to begin panicking, of course, as the transfer window has not even yet officially opened.
But it is hard not to question what exactly the club are playing at when targets come and go in a flash. Let’s hope the same does not now happen with Luis Guilherme.
